The simplest definition according to Wikipedia, is that an Escape Room is "a physical adventure game in which players solve a series of puzzles and riddles using clues, hints and strategy to complete the objectives at hand". Players are given a set time limit to unveil the secret plot which is hidden within the rooms. Games are set in a variety of fictional locations, such as prison cells, dungeons and space stations, and usually, the various puzzles and riddles themselves follow the theme of the room.
Our room themes are designed to completely immerse you into another reality or environment. They will be highly decorated and 'propped' and you will experience all kinds of emotions when inside. The objective of our rooms is to create a false environment where you can lose almost all sense of reality and your behaviour becomes far more instinctive and natural. In other words the real you!
If you have ever completed an Escape Room before, you will know that typical room themes include Dungeons, castles, crypts, Crime scenes and Prison cells and whilst we do not profess to exclude these options we do tend to go for something a little more 'Out there'.
In fact, apart from a cryptic clue in the room name, you won't know what to expect until we open the door and you enter. That's what makes it even more challenging. In short... just come along, remain open-minded and you'll enjoy it all the more.
Whilst we want to ensure that all of our guests have fun when they are with us, we also have a business to run and we cannot do that if guests get too overzealous with the props, puzzles and clues. Understand that your health and safety are our prime concern also so we will not create rooms where activities such as climbing and jumping are required. This is NOT the Crystal Maze.
However, we have to have at least a few rules and you will have to accept them before entering any of our rooms. They will be provided to you at the time of booking and freely available at the venue itself. You can see them here.
As you may have already figured out, once you have completed a room, you will know how it operates and as such will not want to revisit the same room again until its theme or puzzles have been refreshed. Refreshing a room takes time and money and so we won't be refreshing them every couple of weeks. It's for this reason that we have several rooms so that we can re-theme and re-prop one room at a time so that there will hopefully always be something new for you to try when you revisit.
Following us on Twitter and other social media will enable you to be kept informed of when we have a new room for you to try as well as joining our mailing list. Our contact details and Social Media platforms are on our contact page.
As with all Escape room venues, every room has CCTV and audio recording active everytime someone is in the room. This serves a number of purposes. Firstly, it's there for your safety and for that of your team. Secondly, it enables our Games Masters to monitor your progress throughout the room and to provide you with clues or hints if we feel you are getting stuck or frustrated. This is meant to be fun for you after all. Finally, we offer corporate training services in our rooms and the recordings allow for your groups to be evaluated and monitored for their interaction and training. Of course, it also allows us to ensure that our rooms are being treated correctly and any intentional or irresponsible damage can be monitored and... Addressed.
But we can assure you that you will not be aware of them when you are inside and please do not ask for these features to be turned off... as legally this will not happen.
Of course whilst we state that you are 'Locked in' you are never actually LOCKED in any of our rooms and you or any of your team can leave at any time but once you leave you will not be allowed to return to the room. SO make sure you Go before you enter!
If there is an emergency such as a fire when you are inside, then all doors will automatically open and all safety lighting will come on and you will be directed to the nearest exit.
There will be no electronic or communication devices allowed in the room at any time. There are complex puzzles inside and what would be the fun of allowing Google to help you out of the room. All such devices and any valuables will be locked in a secure cupboard and the key will be given to a member of your team for safe keeping.
Take a break from your phone for an hour, you'll thank us for it at the end.
